Kathmandu, August 24:

The Royal Commission for Corruption Control today slapped a bail amount of Rs 50 lakh each on joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance Dip Basnet, and director general of the Revenue Investigation Department (RID) Abhanindra Shrestha, and a bail amount of Rs 25 lakh each on RID tax officer Sarada Prasad Dahal, and proprietor of Plywood Store, Basundhara, Jay Prakash Shrestha, for alleged evasion of tax. All four have been charge-sheeted for evading Value Added Tax (VAT) to the tune of Rs 34.1 million. They have been in police custody since Thursday.
