Finland and UAE vow to cooperate in Nepal's development efforts
NEW YORK: Finland and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have pledged to assist Nepal in its socio-economic development.
The commitments were made by the ministers of Finland and the UAE during their separate meetings with Minster for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, who is in New York to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On the occasion, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Finland, Ville Skinnari and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Bin Mohammad Gargash made the promise of cooperation.
In a meeting with the Finnish Minister, discussions concerning bilateral relations and mutual interests and benefits were held. The two ministers agreed to develop collaboration between the countries in multilateral and regional forums which would further bring the existing relationship to a new height.
Minister Gyawali urged his Finnish counterpart to invest in the areas of physical infrastructure, energy and water resources taking advantage of the investment-friendly environment of Nepal. Nepal expects an elevated level of cooperation and support from development partners including Finland towards it's journey to prosperity and believes Finnish cooperation would be instrumental in Nepal's efforts for development, he added.
Likewise, Minister Gyawali discussed matters related to mutual interests and benefits in the meeting with UAE Minister Gargash.
The two ministers exchanged their ideas focusing on the matters related to Nepali workforce facilities and security in UAE along with UAE investment and trade in Nepal.
