KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 29

Mt Manaslu recorded the season's first casualty as a Canadian climber died while ascending the mountain, sources said.

Brent Seal, 37, breathed his last while heading for summit point yesterday, according to a source at base camp.

Fellow climbers suspected that he suffered from a stroke at the height of 7800m. His body is being airlifted to Kathmandu today.

Rescuers brought down his body from the high camp, said sources.

Brent was a part of an expedition run by TAG Nepal. Sources said that his family has already been notified about the incident.

Over 100 climbers already scaled the mountain in the autumn season, according to the Department of Tourism.

At least 171 climbers along with their support staff have obtained permits to climb Mt Manaslu in the autumn season.
