Five detonators confiscated from CPN cadre's house in Jhapa

SURUNGA, JHAPA: Police on Thursday seized five improvised explosive device (IED) detonators from the possession of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party Nepal (CPN) cadres in Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-2 in Jhapa district.

The arrested has been identified as the CPN Mechi Zone bureau member Khom Prasad Lakandri aka Deepak Lakandri, said police.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of Lakandri and confiscated one detonator with wire joined in it and four other detonators filled with gunpowder, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Jitendra Bahadur Basnet at the District Office, Jhapa.

Jhapa District Police Office has taken nine cadres of the CPN including Lakandri into police custody, added DSP Basnet.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
