BARA, SEPTEMBER 13

Police in Bara made public five persons involved in the transactions of fake notes yesterday.

Sunil Kumar Ram, 24, and Rabindra Kumar Chaudhary, 36, of Rautahat, and Bisheshwor Prasad Chaudhary, 36, Sagar Shukla, 24, and Raju Kushwaha, 25, of Bara were arrested with 25 counterfeit Nepali currency notes in the denomination of 1,000.

Acting on a tip-off that a group of people were operating their racket in counterfeit notes from a room of a hotel - Tara Inn, a team from the Central Intelligence Bureau from Kathmandu, in coordination with the local police, held the racketeers on Saturday.

Police also seized a motorbike and a jeep from the group. Meanwhile, police also confiscated 9,300 pieces of paper the size of Nepali 1,000 rupees currency note when they raided Sunil Ram's house in Bijayapur Laxminiya, of Rautahat.

Police also seized two motorbikes from Ram's home.

Police have said further investigation is under way. Regarding the arrest, the hotel owner Yuvaraj Lama, said the group had been staying at the hotel by identifying themselves as realtors.
