BIRGUNJ: The District Court Parsa has sentenced five persons including two police constables to nine years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 550,000 each for abduction of a jeweller on Thursday.

They were incriminated for abducting Rajesh Kumar Sah of Nagawa area of Birgunj Municipality-19 in Parsa district.

On April 5, police constables Arvinda Kumar Singh and Binaya Singh abducted Birgunj's jeweller Sah. The duo Singh had held Sah in captivity in a hotel and were demanding ransom for his release when the police made the arrest.

The court also sentenced Bhagawan Singh of Harpatgunj-8, Deepak Singh Rajput of Chorli-2 and Brijesh Kumar Singh of Birgunj Municipality-18 for their involvement in the kidnapping.
