Five swamp deer relocated to Bardiya National Park
BARDIYA: Five swamp deer were relocated to the Bardiya National Park (BNP) from the Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve with necessary arrangement for their rehabilitation.
This was the first time that the swamp deer were relocated from the Shuklaphanta. Two male and three female deer were brought to the Park.
The cabinet had decided to shift at least 15 swamp deer to the BNP, Park's Chief Conservationist, Ramesh Thapa said.
There are a total of 100 swamp deer in the Park. In first phase, 10 female and five adult male swamp deer would be shifted to the Park, which is seeking an increment of the deer population, Thapa added.
Three months earlier five rhinos were successfully relocated and a baby rhino was born there last week.
