Police recovered the bodies from separate locations in Swargadwari Municipality and are working to establish their identities and the circumstances of their deaths.
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 13
Police recovered five unidentified bodies, including that of a child, from the banks of the Madi and Lungri rivers in different parts of Swargadwari Municipality on Thursday morning.
The bodies were found at around 7:30 am at separate locations in the municipality, according to Nepal Police.
At Judapanta in Ward No. 9, police found the body of an unidentified boy believed to be around 12–13 years old beside the Madi River.
In Kimichaur, Ward No. 3, only the upper portion of an unidentified man's body, from the waist upwards, was recovered from the Madi River bank.
The body of an unidentified woman was found at Gothibang in Ward No. 4, also along the Madi River.
Two more bodies of unidentified women were recovered from the Lungri River bank at Saroja in Ward No. 5. One of the bodies was missing the portion of the left leg below the knee.
Police said efforts are under way to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
As the identities of the bodies have not yet been established, the District Police Office, Pyuthan has urged people whose family members have gone missing to contact the office.
