KATHMANDU, APRIL 3

Flights to and from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been significantly disrupted due to reduced visibility caused by dense haze over Kathmandu.

Jagannath Niraula, Chief and General Manager of TIA, stated that thick fog lingering over Kathmandu for the past few days has led to decreased visibility, forcing aircraft to rely on Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) technology for landing and takeoff.

"Flights are being operated using IFR technology due to reduced visibility caused by the haze," he said.

Although no flights have been canceled so far, General Manager Niraula noted that visibility at the airport currently stands at 3,000 meters.

As a result of the poor conditions, three mountain flights operated by Buddha Air and one each by Yeti Airlines and Shree Airlines were diverted to Bhairahawa and Janakpur today, he added.
