MORANG: The flood survivors of Madhumalla in Morang have been spending days without food, with no one coming to their rescue so far.

More than 150 families have been directly affected by the floods in the Bakraha River that waterlogged villages on Tuesday. Most of the survivors have taken refuge at their relatives' with government authorities yet to reach to them.

One among the victim families, Durga Bahadur Karki of Madhumalla-5 lost his four-year-old son and all the properties including house to the floods. More than a bigaha of land owned by the Karki family has been converted into desert. However, the family has not even received immediate relief support from the government.

Seventeen houses were fully damaged while around 500 people have been directly affected by the floods, according to the Area Police Office, Urlabari.

Meanwhile, the Nepal Red Cross Society Morang said that it distributed 100 tarpaulin sheets to the flood survivors on Friday. We have appealed to organisations concerned to provide food support to the survivors, said the Society Chair Subodh Singh.
