Flood threatens Jite Bazaar

KALIKOT: Jite Bazaar, which is 30 miles north of Manma, the Kalikot headquarters, faces the danger of flood as Karnali river started eroding its bank following a downpour.

The flood has put 200 houses and shops in peril. Jite Bazaar is a business hub of Dailekh and Achham district as well. “I run the shop during

the day but go away at night, fearing the

flood,” local Chandra Shahi said. Others lamented that they had no option. Dan Bam of Ramnakot said, “I am planning to return to the village, leaving back my business.”

Flood victim Ganesh Shahi said their plea for shifting the people from Jite Bazaar, Samalgaon, Molpha and Ramnakot settlements had fallen on the deaf year. CDO Pitambar Ghimire said they had not got any response from Home Ministry though they had written to it for the management of the risky settlement.
