The Federation of Nepalis Journalists Morang chapter expressed its concern about the incident wherein a person threatened a media outlet and journalists in Morang.
The person, namely Manoj BK, is learned to have threatened to plant a bomb at Koshi Online news portal's office at Biratnagar for disseminating news and video content about an incident that occurred in front of United Gurkha Academy in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, Sunsari, on February 8.
Issuing a press statement here today, FNJ Morang chapter has condemned the act of BK who has been sending audio messages to the online portal and threatening staffers at the portal that he would blast off the office, stating that the online had published news about an incident of a public thrashing a boy on the charge of theft.
Stating that there were modest ways of expressing disagreement with the published content and getting justice through legal recourse, the act of the person threatening mediapersons was against the freedom of press. Hence, the FNJ has demanded action against the culprit.
