FNJ working committee meeting held
PYUTHAN: The central working committee meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) was held in Pyuthan on Monday.
FNJ president Dharmendra Jha presided over the meeting at the hall of Jhimruk Industrial Development Centre. Poshan KC, secretary general FNJ, informed that they would launch a nationwide programme to implement Working Journalists Act. The meeting also urged the political parties to end the political impasse and draft the constitution in time. Hinting at the suspension of press freedom as per the draft prepared by the Constituent Assembly sub-committee on fundamental rights, the meeting demanded that press freedom be guaranteed even at times of emergency. The meeting has also urged the government to implement the ten-point agreement reached, earlier.
FNJ president Jha maintained that society should guarantee security of the journalists.Likewise, a seven-member draft committee would be formed to amend the existing statute and to dismiss the FNJ section committees formed at Nepal-1 Television and some FMs.
The programme also released a seven-point declaration for the development of the district.
