Former lawmaker abuses Bara police officers, to face public offence charge

KALAIYA: The District Police Office, Bara has detained former Constituent Assembly (CA) member Shiva Chandra Kushawaha and filed a case of public offense against him.

The DPO has been granted additional 15 days from the District Administration Office to carry out further investigation into the case.

The former CA member was invited to the DPO for discussions on a land dispute case at Bariyapur on July 19. But, in the midst of the discussions, he verbally abused Superintendent of Police Lokendra Bahadur Malla and DSP Rabindra Regmi, the DPO said.

He has been accused of mistreating the senior police officers on duty.

Kushwaha was the UCPN-Maoist member in the first CA from the Bara Constituency-2. In the second CA election, he contested from the Sadbhawana Party, but lost the race.
