Foundation laid for Martyrs’ park

Kathmandu, January 29:

Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Janardan Sharma, laid the foundation stone for the construction of ‘Epitome of Peace and Martyrs’ at the Martyrs’ Park at Yagyadol Community Forest in Gokarna VDC today.

On the occasion, Sharma urged everyone to work together for the development of the park, adding that it was the first national park to be built in memory of all known and unknown martyrs who gave life for the people and democracy while fighting against Ranas to the monarchy. He said the ministry had allocated Rs 3.5 million for the park.

On the park premises, a memorial would be constructed in memory of the 24 national and international environmentalists who died in a chopper crash in Dhunsa of Taplejung.

The park is spread over 629 ropanis of land. The construction would complete within two years.
