Four Bihar hoodlums killed

Birgunj, August 29:

Four gangsters were killed in police encounter in Radheymai Tole of Ward No 16 of Birgunj municipality last night. Police also recovered weapons from the spot.

The encounter ensued at Sirisiya bridge on the border of Radheymai Tole and Ramgarhwa VDC of Parsa district, said Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Shekhar Bajracharya.

One of the four killed in police action was later identified as Amit Singh, a member of the Munna Sharma gang, involved in criminal activities in Bihar. The identities of other three could not be ascertained.

The police action took place after a tip-off that Munna Sharma’s gang had forayed into Nepal, said DSP Bajracharya.

He added that seven gangsters entered Birgunj on foot in the dead of the night and had reached Sirsiya bridge at around 1 am when the police patrol intercepted them. Three of them managed to escape, said DSP Bajracharya.

Police fired 171 rounds of ammunition in the action. Police recovered three country-made pistols, a revolver, 24 rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones and two telephone diaries from the spot.
