LAHAN: Four persons died and as many as 20 others have fallen ill due to unknown disease in Chandra Ayodhyapur VDC-6, a Dalit settlement in Siraha district.

According to SP Ram Kripal Sah of the District Polcie Office, the deceased have been identified as Jibasi Sada (35), Tulawa Sada (65), Garwa Sada (65) of Chandra Ayodhyapur VDC-6 and Kaushilya Sada of Lahan Municipality.

The affected people have complained of weakness and vomiting.

Others suffering from the disease are undergoing treatment at the District Public Health Office (DPHO), Siraha.

Locals had reported to the local police office and the doctors available in the district after the villagers suddenly began falling ill.

A police team deployed at the village has taken initiatives to send the sick people to the district hospital, SP Sah informed.

It has been learnt that the district hospital has taken blood samples of the affected people for examination.

A team of health workers with specialist doctors have been deployed in the VDC to provide medical services in the village, according to the DPHO, Siraha.
