The MEC had called for national and international students for the 'Common Entrance Examination of Bachelor Level in Health Professional Education' on April 1, April 2, and April 3.

The examinations were held for 13 degrees - MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, BASLP, B Perfusion Technology, BAMS, BNS, BSc MLT, B Pharm, B Optometry, BPT, and BPH.

Different colleges in Kathmandu have been selected as examination centres where students have to provide their admit cards along with other legal identity cards. Identity is also rechecked through biometrics.

Despite the strict checking system maintained at the examination centres, police had received a tip-off that some fake examinees will appear for the examination in the place of real ones.

In line with the tip-off, police had reached the examination centres to check if such fraudulent activities were really happening. During their vigilance, police succeeded in arresting four people who were hired to give the examination of real examinees who were not present there. Police disclosed that the fake examinees would produce fake examination identity cards with their own photos and other legal documents to reveal their identity.

Among the arrested are Amar Pandit, 22, of Samsi Rural Municipality, Mahottari; Aniket Chaudhary, 22, of Chakraghatta Rural Municipality, Chakraghatta; Ram Asis Yadab, 26, of Rajgad Rural Municipality, Saptari; and Istiyakh Ahmad, 24, of Rafigunj in Bihar of India.
