Four girls rescued, trafficker nabbed
NEPALGUNJ: Four girls who were meant to be trafficked out of the country were rescued from Nepalgunj, in Banke on Thursday night.
Police have also got hold of the agent who was involved in the trafficking bid. The rescued girls have been identified as 18-year-olds Jina BK of Morang and Sarita BK of Itahari; Phulmaya BK,16, and Manisa Mardi,17, of Jhapa. Sathi Sanstha, a non-governmental organisation and Indian Sima Surakshya Bal had rescued the girls from different places of Nepal and India.
Jina, Sarita and Phulmaya were rescued by Sathi Sanstha from near the border in Nepal while they were riding rickshaws to Rupaidiha of India, Manisa was rescued by the SSB from its check post across the border.
SSB also arrested and handed over to Nepal Police the agent Obisara Rana, 29, of Surkhet, who was escorting Manisa after passing across the border.
Police said another agent by the name of Raj Chaudhary of Morang who abetted the trafficking bid is at large. Manisha is now taking shelter at Maiti Nepal and the others are under the protection of Sathi Sanstha.
According to the girls, the agents had brought them to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu and kept them in a hotel yesterday. In the evening, as per the plan, the girls had boarded separate rickshaws in a bid to cross the border into India to avoid being caught.
DSP Sushil Singh Rathaur informed that preparations were under way sue the person arrested on human trafficking charge.
