Biratnagar, September 22

Police arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in a gang-rape at Gramthan Rural Municipality, Morang, today.

A group of youths raped a 17-year-old girl in the rural municipality last night. The arrested are Suresh Thandar, 20, Kamal Puri, 25, of the locality; and Santosh Kumar Majhi, 22, and Prakash Kumar Tharu, 22, of Belbari Municipality.

After preliminary investigation, police said the youths raped the girl after forcing her to drink alcohol. Afterwards, the youths took her to a banana farm and raped her there under the influence of alcohol.  The victim informed the local police after the incident.

SP Bishow Adhikari of Morang District Police Office, said the accused were held this morning as per the case filed by the victim with the police. SP Adhikari added that the accused youths and the girl were familiar with each other.
