Four killed, two hurt in road mishaps

Biratnagar, May 2:

Four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Morang, Sunsari, Saptari and Parsa districts today while two women were seriously injured in a mishap in Sarlahi.

Morang police said Trilochan Bhattarai of Mattim VDC in Khotang died on the spot when a westward bound vehicle hit him on East-West highway at Sundarpur VDC-1 of Morang while he was crossing the road. In Sunsari, motorcyclist Milan Shrestha of Itahari died after his vehicle was hit by a truck at Khanar. Pillion rider Lokendra Gurung was injured and is being treated in Siliguri of India.

In Saptari, Sajjad Miyan of Kalyanpur VDC-2 died while undergoing treatment in Dharan after he was hit by a motorcycle.

Hiralal Sah (58) of Jhalmaiyya in Jaymanglapur VDC in Parsa died on the spot when a tractor turned turtle near Bindyabasini on the Birgunj-Pokhariya road section. Police said the tractor driver fled but the tractor had been seized. Sah’s body was handed over to his kin after postmortem.

Two young women, Dhanwanti Sahni (17) and Pramila Kumari (16) of Paurai VDC in Rautahat were seriously injured when a car hit them near Bagmati Bridge in Sarlahi.

They were sent to Birgunj for treatment. Police have arrested the driver and seized the car.

Meanwhile, traffic on the Katahari-Ghurmi road section in Udaypur was disrupted due to a landslide at Betni.
