Chief District Officer (CDO) Chandra Prasad Gaire said that discussions were being held with the concerned local units to mitigate the risks of various natural disasters that could hit many places in the district at any time.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act -2074 mandates the formation of Disaster Management Committee in local units.

CDO Gaire argued that the risks and damages caused by the natural disasters could be reduced by bringing into effect the Disaster Management Committee in every local unit.

The local levels have been requested to allocate budget for the reduction of the cases of natural disaster, he added.

Police Inspector at the District Police Office Kanti Raj Joshi informed that preparations were underway to mitigate the risks of the disaster in the district.

He said, "We have asked for the support with the provincial and federal government to control the landslides as it would not be possible only from local level."
