KATHMANDU, APRIL 09

Four CPN-Maoist Centre lawmakers that had lost their House of Representatives seats and eventually ministership after defecting from from the CPN-Maoist Centre, are being re-inducted into the Oli-cabinet, today.

Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Lekhraj Bhatta, Prabhu Sah, and Gauri Shankar Chaudhary will be sworn-in later in the day.

The four were recently nominated as the central committee members of the CPN-UML.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli recommended the reappointment of the four stepping on the constitutional provision that enables appointment of individuals, that are not Members of Parliament, as ministers for a period of six months.

They had thrown their weight behind Oli during the factional feud in the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), which was formed with the unification of CPN-MC and UML. The unification of the two parties was later nullified by a Supreme Court ruling.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota had, on Thursday, informed the HoR that the four lawmakers had been expelled from the House as their mother party, the CPN-MC, had asked the Parliament Secretariat to take action against them for defecting to the UML.
