Four panels to streamline UML activities

Kathmandu, March 29:

The central committee meeting of the ruling CPN-UML today decided to form four task forces to carry out the party activities.

The first task force has been formed under the leadership of chairman Jhala Nath Khanal. It would modify and give final shape to the political report that was approved by the party’s eighth general convention, the UML said.

The second task force, headed by general secretary Ishwor Pokharel, will give final shape to the party statute. Bharat Mohan Adhikari-led task force will review the party’s Butwal convention and prepare a report.

Likewise, the fourth task force, led by Rajendra Pandey, will probe into the mysterious ballot box found during the vote counting at the party’s eighth general convention venue.

The meeting also decided to elect Kashi Nath Adhikari as a central committee member. Adhikari had filed an application at the party office, claiming that he had got more votes than

Rajendra Shrestha during the convention held in Butwal on February 16-21.

Meanwhile, the parliamentary party meeting of the UML today decided to fight strongly against

the Maoists’ atrocities. “We will fight against the anarchic activities of the Maoists both from the parliament and the street,” Khanal said after the meeting.

The meeting also discussed the UML’s role in the winter session of the parliament.
