Four persons held for trying to disrupt FPSC examinations

Province 1 bandh partially affected transport services in Khotang

Khotang, July 20

Police arrested four persons for trying to thwart the Federal Public Service Commission’s exam in Khotang district today.

Those arrested have been identified as Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Khotang Secretary Rabin Khumbu, Joint Secretary LB Magar, Khotang Dalit Development Front Chair Milan Chahar and Sabina Lamichhane.

Khotang Chief District Officer Bishnu Hari Upadhayay said four persons were held after they tried to disrupt the FPSC exam at Diktel Multiple Campus. “Police arrested them as they tried to cause a commotion and snatched question papers and answer sheets in the examination centre,” CDO Upadhayay said.

Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Chair Hatti Ram Rai, however, said police had arrested four persons when they had reached the exam centre as part of Province 1 bandh organised in protest of vacancies announced for local levels by the constitutional body. The arrested were handcuffed and taken to the District Police Office, according to NEFIN Khotang.

Joint Struggle Mobilisation Committee affiliated with the federation of Indigenous Nationalities and indigenous organisations had enforced Province 1 bandh against the FPSC for slashing reservation quotas meant for women, Dalits, Madhesi and ethnic people. Transport service was partially affected by the bandh in the district today.
