KATHMANDU, MARCH 16
Four sisters from Rolwaling Valley successfully summited Carstensz Pyramid (4,884m), the highest peak in Oceania, this morning in their bid to climb all seven summits. They are the daughters of Rinzin Doma Sherpa and the late Dorjee Sherpa, experienced climber and guide.
With this achievement, Chhiri Aangjum Sherpa, Jangmu Sherpa, Tshering Namgya Sherpa, and Dawa Futi Sherpa have now conquered five of the Seven Summits-the highest peaks on each continent-bringing them closer to their goal, according to Mingma G, Managing Director of Imagine Nepal Treks.
Now, only Mt. Denali in North America and Mt. Vinson in Antarctica remain in their journey to completing this remarkable feat, Mingma added.
The sisters had previously summited Mt. Aconcagua on February 18, 2025.
Meanwhile, Nima Jangmu Sherpa, Tshering Namgya Sherpa, and Dawa Futi Sherpa climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro on December 31, 2022, Mt. Elbrus on November 12, 2022, and Mt. Everest on May 12, 2021. The trio also hold the record for being the most sisters to summit Everest together.
"Chhiri Aangjum, the eldest sister, joined her younger sisters from Aconcagua and has now successfully climbed Carstensz Pyramid. She will climb Kilimanjaro and Elbrus in March-April and Everest in April-May to complete her Seven Summits journey alongside her sisters," Mingma said.
Their father, Dorjee Sherpa, was a strongest guide in his youth. However, in 1983, while guiding an Everest winter expedition, he suffered severe frostbite and lost eight fingers. Despite this, he never gave up climbing and continued guiding smaller teams, Mingma said. "Dorjee always dreamed of reaching the summit of Everest, but he never got the chance," Mingma shared. "His daughters are now climbing the highest mountains on all seven continents to pay tribute to their father and to inspire women to dream big."
The four sisters plan to complete their quest by climbing Mt. Denali in June and Vinson Massif in December, marking a historic first: four daughters from the same family conquering Everest and all Seven Summits.
