Four ward offices operating from rented rooms in Dhankuta

Dhankuta, August 14

Two years have passed since the local levels were formed. But, ward offices are yet to be managed in Dhankuta Municipality.

Four ward offices are running from rented rooms while many others are delivering their services from buildings constructed for other purposes. Ward No 4 office is running from rented rooms.  The office has three rooms for which the municipality pays Rs 7,500 rent every month, said  Ward Chair Jamsher Rai.

Ward No 5 pays Rs 7,500 monthly rent to operate the office.  Ward Chair Dhan Kumari Rai said they could construct the office at Hatiya if the municipality allocated the budget.

Offices of Wards 6 and 10 are also operating from rented rooms. The ward chairs say they are operating offices from rented building for want of their own buildings.

Dhankuta Municipality Mayor Chintan Tamang said efforts were under way to get the budget from the federal government to construct buildings for ward offices.
