Four YCL cadres arrested for Rukum attack
Rukum, March 3:
Police arrested four cadres of the Young Communist League (YCL) yesterday for thrashing leaders and cadres of several political parties during a demonstration in Rukum district on Sunday.
YCL cadres had attacked a rally organised by five political parties, including the NC and CPN-UML to protest the inclusion of only Maoist CA members in the CA team deputed to the district to collect public opinions on future constitution.
The arrested YCL cadres are Arjun Batala, Surendra KC, Bikram Shahi and Dinesh Gurung, according to DSP Rabindra Bahadur Dhanuk. “Investigation into the case is undergoing and stern action would be taken against the guilty,” he said.
During the Sunday’s attack, over 20 persons sustained injuries. Four of them, including Rastriya Janamorcha’s central member Ram Prakash Puri, were seriously injured. Puri was sent to Kathmandu for further treatment today. A meeting held today at the Rukum DAO decided to provide Rs 25,000 for his treatment.
Also today, police arrested four persons on the charge of attacking Rukum chapter of NSU president Tara Oli last night. Stating that investigation into the case was on, the police remained tight-lipped about the arrested persons.
