Birgunj Metropolitan City has started free ambulance and hearse services from today in view of the spike in coronavirus cases in the city of late.

As per data provided by Narayani Hospital, every day, around 100 new cases are being added and three to four persons are dying due to the virus in the metropolis.

Considering the critical situation, free ambulance service has been brought into operation with joint investment of Birgunj Metropolitan City and Parliamentarian Development Fund of Pradip Yadav, a member of the Parliament elected from Parsa Electoral Constituency-1.

At a programme today, Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Bijaya Sarawogi and MP Yadav jointly inaugurated the free ambulance service.

Yadav is Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal's central member.

He hoped the people in the city would get free ambulance service with his contribution. "I'm ready to do anything from my side to control the pandemic in the city and provide relief to people threatened by COV- ID," said Yadav.

Mayor Sarawogi said the ambulance service would be operated under the metropolis and would be free. He further informed that there were preparations to send health workers with free drugs to the houses of COV- ID-19 patients staying in home isolation.
