Jhapa, September 23

Jhapa police has confirmed after investigations that assistant accountant Yamnath Rijal of Sharnamati VDC was murdered by his own friend.

Rijal was found dead on the roadside at Chapramari of Kankai Municipality in Jhapa last week. Preliminary investigation showed that Laya Siwakoti, 46, was involved in the murder.

Siwakoti was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder the same day after Rijal’s body was found. District Police Office, Jhapa registered a murder case against Siwakoti today.

Superintendent of Police Sailesh Thapa Kshetry said police had filed the murder case against Siwakoti as their investigation clearly showed his involvement in the killing.

Police said Siwakoti had given Rijal a pillion ride on his motorbike but killed him on the way. “ We are still investigating the motive behind the killing,” said SP Kshetry.

Police had nabbed Siwakoti after they saw bruises on Rijal’s legs and forehead.
