Fund for quake victims misused, says Joshi

Phidim, May 25

Nepali Congress central member Nabindra Joshi today said the CPN-UML was trying to misuse the relief and reconstruction fund meant for the victims of last year’s devastating earthquake.

Speaking at a media interaction organised by his party in Phidim, Panchthar, Joshi accused the KP Sharma Oli-led government of taking the Reconstruction Authority lightly. He said the UML was planning to spend the fund through the NGOs under various pretexts.

“The government has yet to deploy staffs for relief distribution, reconstruction and treatment of victims,” he said.

Joshi held that the coalition partners of the UML were also dissatisfied with the Oli-led government’s modus operandi. “Prime Minister KP Oli has been distributing dreams and proverbs among the general public rather than sorting out the country’s problems,” he added.

He said the NC had offered all opportunities to UML with the expectation that statute implementation would be easier. “But the public themselves have started to search for alternative to the incumbent government due to its feeble performance.”
