Gadhimai Municipality office padlocked
Rautahat, March 28
CPN-UML cadres padlocked the office of Gadhimai Municipality in Rautahat today, accusing people’s representatives, including Mayor Shyambabu Yadav and government employees of embezzling fund meant for development projects.
They also accused municipality officials and local representatives of working for the benefit of Nepali Congress cadres. They claimed there were irregularities in child nutrition and other programmes. Mayor Yadav is from the Nepali Congress.
The team led by CPN-UML’s defeated mayoral candidate Hariray Yadav padlocked the office at 10:00am and warned officials not to open the office until their demands were met. They have demanded investigation into the procurement of computer, furniture and stationery for the municipal office.
UML cadres also said they were compelled to padlock the office and stop work to draw the attention of concerned agencies. Mayor Yadav, however, claimed all activities were being carried out in a transparent manner. He accused the left alliance of trying to create obstacles and said he was ready to face investigation into all allegations levelled against him.
