Gambling spurs fights, 11 injured

Bara, October 31:

At least 11 persons were injured in fights that erupted in course of gambling in Bara and Nawalparasi districts, the police said.

As many as 10 youths were injured in the scuffle at Bharatichowk in Bara today. Three of the injured — Kiran Gurung, Krishna Bharati and Sushil Ghale — are in critical condition, the police said. The three have been undergoing treatment in the Birgunj-based Narayani sub-regional hospital.

In another incident, a youngster — Dhanbir Gurung of Pithauli village development committee-1 — was injured in the fight in Pithauli village development committee ward number 7 of Nawalparasi district last night.

Gurung has been undergoing treatment in the Bharatpur Medical College. The police have arrested Dipak Timilsina of Pragatinagar-4 for involvement in the incident.
