Gandaki province preparing budget for next fiscal

As the current fiscal is nearing its end, the government in Gandaki Province is now focused on preparing the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

The budget session here is slated to start from the last week of this month and the government is preparing to present its policies and programmes in the Provincial Assembly then.

“With the target of presenting the policies and programmes in the last week of May, we’re now doing the needful,” said Province Policy and Planning Commission Vice-chairperson Giridhari Sharma Poudel.

According to Finance Minister Kiran Gurung, the upcoming budget will be worth around 34 billion rupees. “As per the mid-term expense structure in the current fiscal, the upcoming budget will be around 34 billion rupees,” said Gurung, adding that budgetary allocation will happen in line with the government’s goals and vision.

The government had brought a budget of 24 billion rupees  for the current fiscal. But, just around 24 per cent of the budget has been spent so far here, according to ministerial sources.
