DAMAULI, JANUARY 12

Gandaki provincial government has decided to tighten security at major transit points to the province in view of the risk of the Omicron variant of coronavirus.

On its part, the health protection and surveillance centre at Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality in Tanahun district will be equipped with the required health equipment and necessary human resources.

Similarly, free COV- ID-19 tests will be intensified.

Vehicles entering the province will be recorded and compliance with the health protocols monitored, said the surveillance centre's Chief Agam Prasad Upadhyay. "All people entering the province will be made to follow health protocols. Suspected people will be put under surveillance immediately. Health awareness will be provided."

Infected people will be kept in institutional isolation immediately, said Bharat Koirala, press adviser to Chief Minister of the province Krishna Chandra Nepali.
