Gang rape case comes to light

A case of gang rape of a woman with last name Saha of the Hajamaniya VDC-5 of Rautahat has come to light after 10days. The woman stated that six men of her village had broken into her house at midnight, threatened her eight-year-old son and gang-raped her. Her husband was not around at the time of the incident. In the complaint filed at the District Police Office and the Maiti Nepal, the woman stated that Sanjay Pandit, Joginder Shah, Umesh Pandit, Nanda Lal Mahato and Rudal Mahato were the rapists.

It is said the police had arrested four of the accused and they had confessed the crime. Inspector Sahabuddhin Ansari of the District Police Office said the remaining two accused would also be arrested and taken to the district court soon. Advocate Dilip Koirala said law awards 10 years of jail term to the convict and half of his properties to the victim. The Maiti Nepal informed that a medical check-up at the District Hospital, Gaur, had confirmed that it was a rape case. The husband of the victim, who filed the complaint, said the villagers were exerting pressure to withdraw the complaint, adding that mental health of his wife was deteriorating since the incident.
