Ganga Maya Adhikari still awaiting justice
Kathmandu, September 22
Nanda Prasad Adhikari, of Fujel, Gorkha, died at Bir Hospital while staging fast-unto-death, demanding action against the murderers of his son Krishna Prasad Adhikari four years ago. However, his body is still lying in a fridge of the forensic department at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.
Nanda Prasad died on September 22, 2014, on the 133rd day of his fast-unto-death, seeking justice for his son, while his wife Ganga Maya Adhikari is still in Bir Hospital.
Ganga Maya has refused to cremate her husband’s body until those behind the murder of her son is brought to book. She said that though her husband died seeking justice for their son, the government was yet to fulfill their demands.
“Without my husband I have become lonely. I don’t want to live, but I will have to wait till the end till justice is done,” she said.
According to CharanPrasain, a human rights activist, Ganga Maya had filed an appeal at the High Court and she needed to stay strong to get justice. “Although, Ganga Maya has refused to cremate her husband, we have convinced her not to start fresh fast-unto-death.”
Krishna Prasad Adhikari was kidnapped and killed by the then Maoist rebels in Chitwan in June, 2004 at the height of Maoist insurgency. She has accused Chhabilal Poudel, his son Parshuram Paudel and nephews Bhimsen Paudel, Ram Prasad Adhikari, and Januka Paudel of killing her son.
