KATHMANDU, MAY 7

A group of Nepali and foreign climbers today scaled Mt Nuptse in the Everest region making the season's first summit of 7,855m mountain.

Iswari Poudel, Managing Director at Himalayan Guides said that at least 10 climbers from his company stood atop the mountain opening a route to the summit point.

Under the HG Nuptse Expedition Spring - 2022, British climber Timothy John Mosedale-led team climbed the mountain, he added.

Other climbers who made it to the summit point of Nuptse include Steven Douglas Graham – UK, Jay John Whiting – UK, Garrett Madisson – USA, Chase Allen Merriam – US, Rebecca Jane Ferry - UK, Aang Phurba Sherpa – Yaphu – 9, Sankhuwasabha, Dawa Phurten Bhote – Hatia-3, Sankhuwasabh, Dawa Tenji Sherpa – Silichung, Sankhuwasabha and Pemba Chhiri Sherpa – Gorakhani, Solukhumbu.

According to the Department of Tourism, at least 57 foreign climbers including eight women obtained permit to attempt to climb Mt Nuptse this season. All climbers along with their support staff have already reached the Everest base camp for acclimatization.
