Gaur protesters stage sporadic demonstrations defying curfew
RAUTAHAT: Rautahat district headquarters of Gaur remained comparatively more peaceful on Monday, though protesters staged sporadic demonstrations defying the indefinite curfew imposed by the District Administration Office.
Cadres affiliated to the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) came out on the streets to stage small demonstrati0ns at various junctions of the city including BP Chok, where a protester was killed in a police firing yesterday.
The District Administration Office has clamped an indefinite curfew since 4 pm on Sunday to avoid any untoward incident.
The prohibition was lifted for four and half hours on Monday morning. It, however, resumed since 10:30 am today till a further notice, Chief District Officer Narahari Baral said.
While the curfew was lifted, the UDMF cadres had staged demonstrations in various places of the city.
Meanwhile, body of the Sunday firing victim is still at the District Hospital. CDO Baral said the authorities have contacted his family and procedures are underway to handover the body and to provide family a due compensation.
