Marking World Environment Day 2025, Global IME Bank Limited has inaugurated an electric vehicle (EV) charging station at its corporate office in Kamaladi, Kathmandu.
The charging facility was officially launched on June 5 during a special ceremony attended by the bank's Director Krishna Prasad Sharma, Deputy CEO Suman Pokharel, and Presha Shrestha, CEO of Gadi Charge Pvt. Ltd., the bank's partner in the initiative. The station is equipped with a 40-kilowatt CCS2 Single Gun system.
The facility is open to both bank customers and employees, aiming to support the growing number of EV users in Nepal. Speaking at the event, Bank Director Mr. Sharma stated that the station is part of the bank's effort to promote eco-friendly mobility solutions, keeping customer convenience and environmental sustainability in mind. He added that the bank is integrating environmentally responsible practices alongside its business expansion.
Deputy CEO Pokharel announced that, in celebration of the bank's 18th anniversary and World Environment Day, Global IME Bank is undertaking a tree plantation drive with a target of 18,000 saplings. He reaffirmed the bank's dedication to climate action and encouraged other financial institutions to adopt similar initiatives.
The inauguration was attended by senior officials from the bank and representatives of Gadi Charge Pvt. Ltd.
Global IME Bank, the first private sector commercial bank with a branch in all 77 districts of Nepal, currently operates over 1,000 service points. It has recently been recognized in two categories at the Global Finance Best Bank Awards 2024 and the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2024.
