BIRGUNJ: An unidentified gang on Sunday night stole 98 tola gold and 64 tola silver, collectively worth around Rs 5.5 million, from the Birgunj branch of Agricultural Development Bank.

Regional Director of the Bank, Narayan Prasad Sharma, said that the thieves had barged into the locker room and decamped with valuables.

According to the Parsa District Police Office spokesperson Charkaraj Joshi, the preliminary investigation revealed that the thieves had used a rear entrance to enter into the second floor of the building before running away with the valuables.

Meanwhile, police have detained the bank guards for further interrogation.
