Gorkha quake survivor succumbs to chilling cold

GORKHA: An earthquake survivor succumbed to chilling cold at a temporary camp in Aaru-Aarwang of the district on Saturday.

Lal Bahadur Baram (65) of Baram Gaun, Aaru-Aarwang-1 of the district breathed his last today, local teacher Tek Raj Bhatta said.

The old man was living alone in the camp.

Meanwhile, increasing cold has added woes to problems of the April 25 earthquake survivors.

Many of the survivors in Barpak, Laprak, Saurpani, Swanra, Ghyalchok and Gumda have fallen ill due to plummeting temperature, according to the district health professionals.

Further, shortage of medicines at health facilities has worsened the situation.

Chief of the District Public Health Office Mahendra Dwoj Adhikari said the health posts even lack basic medicines against fever and stomachache.
