Govt abusing state power, says KP Oli

Jhapa, August 7

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli today accused the government of abusing state power to meet the vested interest of certain parties.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Chautari Jhapa at Chandragadhi, Oli alleged that the incumbent government had abused state power to fulfill the vested interest of political parties. “The government has made a mockery of the law of the land by singing the song of statute amendment at this time,” Oli charged.

Oli commented that Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre had betrayed the people by signing agreement with the Madhesi parties to pass the statute amendment bill from the Parliament. He said that statute amendment bill would not be passed from the Parliament at any cost.  He claimed that no party could stop the UML from becoming the biggest party. “People will not forsake the UML simply because a few people have hatched plot against the party. No party can compete with the UML on policy and ideology,” Oli added.

Oli said the government had abused the police administration to overturn the outcome in Bharatpur though the UML had won the civic polls. He commented that the NC-Maoist government had raised the issue of statute amendment to stop Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal from going to the polls. He said that NC and Maoists’ dream of winning the polls by provoking the people of Madhes against the UML would never be fulfilled.
