Government committed to check black marketing, smuggling, says Home Minister

RUPANDEHI: Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet on Sunday said that the government was committed to curb black marketing and smuggling.

The government would launch a special security initiative in the border areas to check growing smuggling and black marketing in view of the blockade and Tarai agitation, he said.

Talking to mediapersons, after a meeting with the chief district officers from six districts of Lumbini zone today, Home Minister Basnet, however, stated that the country had not witnessed disarray yet.

“The country is facing a difficult time due to the Madhes agitation and the blockade," he underscored, "But it cannot be termed as a disarray.”

Minister Basnet hoped that the problems in the Tarai region would fizzle out soon.

The government had not failed yet in terms of diplomatic efforts, he further argued.
