‘Government media not inclusive’

KATHMANDU: The government-owned media have only 11 per cent participation of indigenous nationalities at the policy making level.

According to a study by the Inclusive Media Campaign, the percentage of policy level participation for the Brahmin/Chettri is 68 per cent, women 11 per cent, and five per cent each of Madhesi and Dalit communities.

The study focused on the staff of Rastriya Samachar Samiti, Gorkhapatra Corporation, Radio Nepal and Nepal Television.

Speaking at an interaction on the report organised by Jagaran Media Centre here today, media experts called for implementation of the national media policy to address the weak aspects of inclusion in the media sector.
