POKHARA, FEBRUARY 7
Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara, part of The Centara Collection, officially marked its grand opening on Thursday, introducing Pokhara's first Thai luxury hospitality brand and unveiling Kaskikot as a new premium tourism destination beyond the city's traditional Lakeside area.
The opening ceremony, held at the resort premises in Kaskikot, was attended by senior figures from Nepal's tourism and hospitality sector, industry partners, and media representatives. The event was addressed by the resort's owner, philanthropist Robert Kee, and Centara Hotels & Resorts' Chief Operating Officer Michael Henssler, who expressed confidence in Nepal's expanding tourism potential and its growing appeal among high-end international travellers.
They noted that the entry of a global hospitality brand like Centara reflects rising international interest in Nepal as a premium destination, particularly in emerging locations that combine natural beauty with cultural authenticity.
The celebration featured traditional Nepali cultural performances, underscoring the resort's emphasis on blending local heritage with Centara's signature Thai-inspired warmth and service philosophy.
Speaking on the occasion, the resort's General Manager said the opening represents a meaningful fusion of Nepali hospitality and Thai service culture, designed to offer guests experiences that extend beyond conventional luxury and foster a deeper connection with nature and local communities.
Located about 35 minutes from Pokhara city, Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara is set on the tranquil hills of Kaskikot and offers panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and surrounding valleys. The property features 42 rooms, suites, and villas that combine contemporary comfort with Nepali architectural elements and Thai-inspired design.
The resort offers multiple dining venues, a bar and lounge, a scenic tea house, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, and wellness facilities under Cense by Spa Cenvaree, providing Thai-inspired therapies, yoga sessions, and sound healing on request. Guests can also access curated outdoor experiences such as village walks, hiking trails, paragliding over Phewa Lake, and gateway journeys to trekking routes including the Annapurna Base Camp.
The resort management said Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara is rooted in a social enterprise approach, with a focus on supporting local livelihoods and promoting sustainable tourism to contribute to long-term socio-economic development in the region.
With its Himalayan setting, emphasis on wellness and culture, and integration of Thai and Nepali hospitality traditions, the resort is expected to emerge as a landmark destination for travellers seeking high-end, experiential stays in western Nepal.
