Government offices in Dadeldhura fail to submit quartely progress report

Dadeldhura, March 25

Good governance is gradually becoming a myth due to lack of transparency in government offices of Dadeldhura district.

Most of the district-based government offices have yet to unveil their quarterly reports though they have crossed the deadline. As per the law, government offices are required to make public their quarterly reports through concerned district post offices within seven days after the quarterly term is over. Last year, all public offices had unveiled and submitted their quarterly reports.

Nandaraj Bhatta, chief of District Post Office, Dadeldhura, said no government office in the district had submitted its progress report so far this fiscal. Most of the government offices admitted that their reports were not ready. Dr Chandra Dhakal, chief at District Livestock Office, said their report was almost ready and would be made public in a few days.

Existing law requires all government offices to unveil their reports within one week after the end of the quarter and submit it to the National Information Commission through the DPOs.

Baghkhor local Laxmi Awasthi said it was unfortunate for the locals to be unaware of government policies and programmes.
