Government provides Rs 2 lakh to Domi’s family

The government today provided two lakh rupees as immediate cash relief to the family of Domi Yadav, 55, who went missing in flood in Deuri Bharuwa of Rajbiraj Municipality-15.

Saptari Chief District Officer and District Disaster Rescue Committee Chair Bhagirath Pandey gave away the relief amount to Yadav’s wife Ghanadevi at Yadav’s house.

Yadav had gone missing after the flood swept him away while he was repairing the embankment eroded by Kahndo Khola along with security personnel nine days ago. His status is yet to be known.

Saptari District Disaster Relief Committee had recommended one million rupees compensation to Yadav’s family as there was little possibility of finding him alive.

A source at District Diaster Relief Committee said that the relief amount was handed over to Domi’s family and efforts were under way to provide them the remaining amount and other relief materials.

Yadav’s wife Ghanadevi said the relief money would be used for the livelihood of the family. She said they had started performing mourning rituals as possibility of finding him alive was zero.

Meanwhile, Nepal Students’ Union on Friday distributed food items and educational materials to Saptari’s flood victims.

Nepal Student Union Central Committee distributed food items and educational materials to 510 families of Wards 1,2,4,59,11 and 15 in Rajbiraj Municipality.
