Government will take UML consent: NC Leader Paudel

Janakpurdham, November 22

Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel claimed the government would file the statute amendment proposal and implement it effectively.

Speaking at the Tarai Madhes Dialogue organised by his party in Janakpur today, Paudel claimed that they would register the proposal with the consent of the CPN-UML.

“Holding elections of local bodies by March next year after amending the statute has become mandatory and a great ordeal for the government. The main opposition CPN-UML’s consensus is a must for it,” he said.

Paudel said the government was holding regular discussion with the principal opposition to take it on board.

“The agitating Madhes-centric forces and the main opposition CPN-UML require to be flexible on their stances to institutionalise federalism, inclusiveness and republicanism in the country,” said Paudel.

“Provincial boundaries can be modified as per the interest of the people,” said Poudel.
