ITAHARI: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota has said that the present government is working with a determination to make this decade a decade for prosperity and nation building.

Talking to mediapersons here on Friday evening, he urged the journalists to work responsibly in disseminating news that gives out a positive message.

The Ministry is committed to fully enforcing the working journalist act and drafting a concrete policy for the development of a proportional distribution system of public welfare advertisements.

He also announced to monitor and study comprehensively the freedom and fairness of media. "The media and mediapersons too need to be responsible and dignified," he said while adding that the government was sensitive towards not allowing the social media to go out of control.

Minister Baskota said the mediapersons should base journalism on truth, facts and evidence, and not go for short-term attraction of the readers.

The goal now is to collaborate with the two neighbours India and China to guide the country towards the path of development.
